ICT AND WEBSITES AS A PEDAGOGICAL TOOLS
Throughout this teaching and learning website the VCE Media Unit 2 Outcome 1 “Narrative, Style and Genre” is displayed as a student centre website-based learning tool to assist both in the teaching and learning of this learning outcome (VCAA, 2024). The website is not only an important tool for teachers in the delivery of the VCE Media Unit 2 Narrative, Style and Genre content but as an effective learning tool and resource base for all students to visit to assist their learning across the six-week learning sequence. Both Churchill (2022) and Cuadra (2019) outline the criticality of teacher utilisation of ICT as a pedagogical tool as not only a valuable learning resource, but one that scaffolds the learning of all learners within the inclusive classroom of the 21st century. Furthermore, the significance of such pedagogical tools is outlined by the APST (AITSL, 2018) within Standard 2.6, Standard 3.4 and Standard 4.5 as both significant and necessary skills to be met among graduate, proficient and experienced teachers within the Australian context. Furthermore, the inclusion of ICT throughout planning, delivery and differentiation of teaching is not only reflected among the APST (AITSL, 2018) but can be used in combination with the HITS (DET, 2020). Throughout this website-based learning sequence the inclusion of clearly outlined HITS to inform the teacher on what strategies can or are being used throughout the engagement with the website and during the delivery of the unit content. Similarly, this can also be viewed by the learner to understand what type of teaching they might expect during each week create a more collaborative and inclusive classroom environment between learner and teacher with the promotion of student agency within the classroom (Churchill, 2022, p. 182; Education Council, 2019).
