ICT AND WEBSITES AS A PEDAGOGICAL TOOLS
This website-based learning sequence intends on supporting the teaching and learning of VCD unit 2 outcome 1 (VCAA, 2024). Churchill (2022) outlines the significance of ICT within the classroom, not only as a pedagogical tool but as a rich learning resource in which all teachers understand how ICT can and does inform their teaching. Throughout this learning sequence and embedded in its delivery of content is thorough and important use of ICT to scaffold the accessibility of content, management of planning, ease of delivery and content assessment. The criticality of ICT as a pedagogical tool to be used throughout the planning and delivery of content is one that is not only recommended but required by AITSL (2018). This website is designed to be utilised as an ICT pedagogical tool that promotes and scaffolds teachers’ ability to incorporate the HITS (DET, 2020) strategies in the delivery of the content. This teaching and learning website is designed to incorporate strategies one through ten (DET, 2020) with the incorporation of clear learning intentions, clearly structured lessons, explicit teaching, worked examples, collaborative learning, multiple exposures, questioning, feedback, metacognitive strategies and to allow for differentiated teaching within the learning sequence. A particular focus is on relevant resources used by the teacher throughout the sequence, engaging with the website and ICT as a pedagogical tool to scaffold the metacognition of each individual learner through clearly examples approaches to each learning task and evaluation of process throughout the delivery of the sequence (DET, 2020).
