Target Learning includes an abundance of relevant resources for both Visual Communication and Design teachers and learners. Target Learning have recently updated their website content to reflect the key knowledge and skills relevant to the 2024-2028 VCD study design (VCAA, 2024). Target learning resources are to be accessed and used by teachers and learners in weeks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. These resources are to assist both teachers in their understanding on relevant knowledge and skills that are drawn upon at certain periods of time during the learning sequence along with being accessed by students as a first port of call for any questions prior to asking their teacher for assistance.

Damien Lees – Youtube
Damien Lees (2024)

Damien Lees‘ VCD cheat sheet and Youtube channel will be engaged with by both the teacher and learners throughout the learning sequence to support their learning of the Unit 2 Outcome 1. The cheat sheet is designed for students to find quick answers to technical questions with specific Youtube videos embedded in the learning sequence for students to engage with or for the teacher to utilise to lead the learning.

Rachelle Criticos – Research sources
Criticos (n.d.)

Rachelle Criticos (n.d.) has a range of relevant and effective teaching and learning tools which can be utilised to support the teaching and learning of VCD even within the 2024-2028 study design (VCAA, 2024). Throughout this teaching and learning sequence, Criticos’ VCD Research Sources (n.d.) are to be utilised by students to identify examples of environments designs in different contexts to influence and inform their research. This will allow students to have a foundational starting point of research, in addition to the research that they are shown throughout the task.

Furthermore, students are to have access to the 2022 Unit 3 and 4 top designs portfolio examples. While based on the old study design, this provides the teachers and learners an indication of high-level portfolio work and layout. This provides the students an example of where they will be heading towards and ideas on how to present their research, brief, idea generation, development of concepts and refinement within their unit 2 portfolio. This also provides the teacher an understanding of what should be expected at a unit 3 and 4 level and how to scaffold the learners towards this level of presentation.
