This textbook has been developed to support students and teachers with teaching and learning in the updated 2024-2028 VCE VCD study design. The textbook covers content from Unit 1-4, allowing it to be efficiently used by students and teachers in years 11 and 12. This textbook can be used alongside teacher delivered content by offering students clear and concise definitions and summaries of theories, concepts and ideas in the VCD study area. It also provides relevant practice questions, activities and tasks that can either inform the teacher or be used by students to extend their learning. Being a physical and digital textbook, this provides flexibility for all students with the ability to utilise digital or physical copies at home or remotely when working in this study area.

Damien Lees‘ VCD cheat sheet is a visual, aural, and written guide for students and teachers relating to design fundamentals, design industry practices, technical drawing, methods media and materials, processes and design influences (Damien Lees, 2024). This cheat sheet is presented in a digital format providing an accessible information source for students and teachers that is presented concisely. This can be used by teachers to assist in student learning, as a reference document for students with any questions they have regarding the VCD study area and as an exam revision and assessment tool with students being able to utilise the self-assessment function.

Target Learning is a planning, teaching and learning resource that can be used and access by both teachers and learners to supplement their understanding of VCD technical and theoretical knowledge and key skills. Target learning provides a guided program for teachers to develop their curriculum content in alignment with the 2024-2028 VCD Study Design. There is also extensive resources for students to access to assist their learning in key knowledge or skill areas and can be a first port of call for any questions.

Rachelle Criticos has created some excellent resources that can be used as a teaching resource to show students key theoretical areas such as elements & principles, design thinking, media methods & materials along with research sources within each design area. Rachelle has developed these resources as PowerPoints that can be shown to students to assist their learning in multiple areas throughout units 3 & 4, along with being uploaded to student online classroom platforms for their access as reference material throughout their learning.

VCAA (2024)
Students will be provided with selected key knowledge and skill areas from the VCAA (2024) technical drawing specifications document. This will be drawn upon to support the teaching and learning of manual and digital instrumental drawing and can be used as a guide or cheat sheet for any questions the students have. This would be the first contact point for any technical questions that may arise.
